A design system is the infrastructure that lets a product team move fast without breaking visual consistency. When done well, it means new features can be designed and built faster, designers and developers speak the same language, and the product looks coherent from the first to the five-hundredth screen.
Design systems projects usually fall into two categories: building a system from scratch for a product that is just starting, or auditing and consolidating an existing product that has grown inconsistent. Both are valid engagements. The approach is different, but the deliverable is the same -- a usable, documented component library that reduces design and development debt.
We work with the Figma variables and design token structure that allows direct integration with common front-end workflows. We document not just what the components look like, but why they are built the way they are, what states they have, and where they should and should not be used.
Design system work requires access to the actual product screens and an understanding of how the product is built technically. We need at least a few calls with your engineering team during the project to ensure the token and component structure maps to your implementation. If you cannot provide that access, the deliverable will be less usable.
Design system projects are typically delivered in 8 to 12 weeks depending on the scale of the product and whether we are building from scratch or consolidating. Large enterprise-scale systems may take longer and are quoted individually.
